English: Kondiote Caves Kondivite or Mahakali caves, as they are known locally, were excavated between 2nd to 6th century AD. It consists of four caves on the northwest face and a group of fifteen caves at the southeast, carved in volcanic trap breccias, prone to weathering. The entire surrounding was originally an old settlement, including Marol village, Mulgaon and had several fresh water tanks that have over the years disappeared. The most interesting caves at Kondivite is the chaitya cave (No. 9), which has a peculiar plan layout, and is one of the oldest in the group. The inner shrine and stupa are enclosed within a curved wall, not typical to most chaitya caves. This 8" thick wall around the stupa has a central door with a latticed window on either side and over the right window is a two line Pali Inscription recording, "Gift of a vihar, with his brother, by Pittimba a Brahman of the Gotamas gotra, and inhabitant of Pachi Kama". A carved panel of the Buddha with attendants and other figures. called the Buddhist litany, is cut on the right, which is a later insert. These caves are declared by the Archaelogical Survey of India as a National Monument vide Notification No. 2704-A, Dated 26.05.1909. Hindi: कोंडिवटे की गुंफाऐं कोंडिवटे की गुंफाऐं स्थानीय रूप से महाकाली गुम्फा के नाम से जानी जाती है। यह गुम्फा दूसरी से छटी शताब्दी ईसा में बनायीं गयी थी। इस गुम्फा समूह की चार गुंफाऐं उत्तर पश्चिम दिशा में तथा पंधरा गुंफाऐं दक्षिण पूर्व दिशा में स्थित है। यह गुंफाऐं अग्निजन्य बसाल्ट पत्थर में बनायीं हुई है इस पश्चात उनका काफी विदारण हुआ है। प्राचीन समय में इस परिसर में मरोल गांव , मुलगाव और कई पानी के टैंक को मिलाकर बना समूह रहा होगा जो समय पश्चात अब नहीं दीखता। गुम्फा क्रमांक नौ इस समूह की सबसे पुरानी गुम्फा है और इसका प्लान काफी अलग बना हुआ है। जिसमे मुख्य स्तूप एक अर्ध वृत्ताकार दिवार के भीतर बना हुआ है जैसा सामान्यतः नहीं देखा जाता। इस आठ इंच मोटी दिवार में एक द्वार और दो खिड़किया बनी हुई है। दाहिनि और के खिड़की के ऊपर उत्कीर्ण पाली भाषा में लिक्खे शिलालेख में पचि कम् गांव के निवासी, गौतम गोत्र के ब्र्हामण पित्तंब ने अपने भाई केसाथ मिलकर इस विहार का दान किया ऐसे लिखा हुआ है। उत्तर काल में खोदा हुआ बैठे हुए बुद्ध और उनके परिचारक का शिल्प स्तूप के दाहिनी और के दिवार पर देखा जा सकता है । भारतीय पुरातत्व सर्वेक्षण द्वारा इन गुफाओं को गजट नोटिफिकेशन नं. २७०४-ए दिनांक २६.५.१९०९ के अन्तर्गत राष्ट्रीय महत्व का स्मारक घोषित किया गया है। Marathi: कोंडीवटे लेणी / महाकाली लेणी सामान्यतः महाकाली लेणी म्हणून ओळखली जाणारी कोंडीवटे लेणी इसवी सन दुसऱ्या ते सहाव्या शतकात खोदली गेली. या लेणीसमूहात अग्निजन्य ट्रॅप खडकात कोरलेली वायव्य दिशेस चार आणि आग्नेय दिशेस पंधरा लेणी आहेत. मरोळ गाव, मूळ गाव आणि पाण्याचे कोरीव टाके असलेला हा परिसर एक प्राचीन वसाहत होती जी आता नामशेष झाली आहे. क्रमांक ९ चे लेणे हे या समूहातील सर्वात महत्त्वाचे आणि जुने लेणे असून त्याचे वास्तुविधान वैशिष्ट्यपूर्ण आहे. या लेण्यात मुख्य स्तूप एका अर्ध गोलाकार सभागृहात बंदिस्त आहे. या आठ इंच जाड भिंतीला मध्यवर्ती द्वार असून दोन्ही बाजूस जाळीदार दगडी खिडक्या आहेत. उजवीकडील खिडकीच्या वर पाली भाषेतील शिल
