How To Reach
Shivneri Fort is located near Junnar in Pune district and is well connected by road from both Pune and Mumbai. The nearest town is Junnar, about 2–3 km from the fort. For air travellers from other states or abroad, the nearest major airports are Pune International Airport, about 88–90 km away, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai, about 150 km away. The nearest major railway station is Pune Junction, at about 94 km from the fort. From Pune, the journey takes roughly 2 to 3 hours by road, while from Mumbai, it typically takes about 4 to 5 hours, depending on traffic. Visitors can reach Junnar by private vehicle, taxi, or MSRTC bus, and then continue by local transport to the fort base. The climb to Shivneri Fort is relatively manageable, with approximately 300 to 400 stone steps, and usually takes around 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on pace.
